Friends

This picture makes me happy. And I need it today. Our household is trying to get over strep and I have a billion things to do. I'm really thankful for all the people supporting me!

Junie Baby

Welcome my good friends Amber and Jeff's new daughter Juniper Olivia Stamper into the world. These pictures say so much about those precious first moments that make me long for another one. But at least I got to be there to witness some them! Gettin' my baby fix...

Amber's Shower

I hosted a baby shower yesterday for my good friend Amber. We had a cake made out of diapers and a real caramel cake that we could eat. Our party favors were little baby bottles filled with wild flower seeds and said "Plant, water, love, grow" and "It's a girl!" Since I have three boys, it was so much fun to throw a girly party! Yay pink!

Camera's last shot

I'm still going through old photos since I can't take any new ones at this moment. This shot is of one of my favoritest friends, who is going to be so mad at me for posting a picture of her beautiful self, but I don't care because she's gorgeous and this is one of the very last pictures my poor broken camera took. Gotta memorialize....

My Little Movie Star Friend

One of Kaleb's friends, and the son of my good friends Michael and Tiffany made this movie for a talent show at school (with the help of his talented father and friends.) I loved it so much that I thought I'd post it so you could be just as entertained. (Look close, one of the locations for the shoot was a house that Seth remodeled.)

If you liked that, here is the one he did last year. We have a Hollywood star in the making!

The Weekend

My birthday weekend has been so much fun! Seth took me shopping at Serendipity on Thursday night for the perfect little black dress, then he took me to the Melting Pot for a scrumptious four course fondue dinner. A gorgeous bouquet with my name on it was waiting at our table when we arrived and they took our picture and framed it!

Friday, Seth and I checked in to the Doubletree downtown where we got ready to go meet everyone at PM's (where I wore my little black dress.) About twenty of us were at the restaurant until 11, and then we went to hear Julia sing karaoke and dedicate a song to me! Ha! But that girl can sing. We didn't go back to the hotel until we had done a little dancing, so it was a pretty late night for me. A room service breakfast was a really nice treat especially considering I didn't feel guilty eating it in bed and getting crumbs everywhere. Hey, I didn't have to clean it!
Oh, and I have to give Kristen G. a mention for the Sweet16 birthday cupcake that she gave me at her dinner party Saturday afternoon.
So, there's the download of the best birthday I could have asked for. Next week I'll get back to posting about other stuff besides me. Now that my birthday is over, I'm thoroughly sick of myself.

Christmas Carolers

Seth went to the door last night around 9:00 to hear muffled chattering and giggling on our front steps. When he opened the door he was greeted by a group of our sweet neighbors who burst into a rendition of "Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer". I missed the carol, by the time I got the door, the song had dissolved into the chattering and giggling again.
They handed me a box of homemade cookies (which I promptly ate four of, then felt sick and had to go to bed), took a look at our remodeled floors and that was about it. But I have to say, it really made my night. After being shut inside for a week with sick kids during the Holiday season, there is nothing better than having people remember you. So, if you get into the spirit of Christmas, go lavish some cheer on your neighbors, 'cause from their point of view, it feels great!

Merry Cards

I finished making my Christmas cards (finally). I just purchased a blank pack of cards and then painted, pasted, stamped, drew and sewed on them. So fun. But I only made enough for the ladies in my Bible study group, so if you don't get one it doesn't mean that you are not my friend. It just means that I am going to have to be more ambitious next year and do two or three packs!

Or you can pretend that this is your card. On the inside it says:
(insert your name here),
I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!
Love, Amanda

Silly Me

So, I have to write my first retraction. I said earlier that my friend Amy had put St. Vincent on a mix she made me (I have since deleted that sentence.) Well, I really do like St. Vincent aka Annie Clark, but that wasn't who she put on the album. And I was wondering why I couldn't find the same songs! I'm such a dork...

So, the person that I really meant to blog about is Brooke Waggoner. Listen here or here.

David's New Site

I know I have posted about David before, but he just opened his new website, davidarms.com, and I am blown away by his work yet again. His site is such a pleasure to browse through, with soothing music and powerful images. Go there and experience it for yourself.

The Fab Four

If you knew me in Junior High or High school, you probably knew that you didn't have look far to find Sarah, Mandy and Amy. The four of us were together a lot. We were the four who would set up the tent on my parents deck and "camp out" and then walk to McDonalds for breakfast before we had even slept a wink. We rode around in my maroon Oldsmobile Cutlass that over-heated and stalled at every stop light, we constantly tried to sneak into various pools after hours, and we were not shy about performing singing and dancing routines in the church talent shows. We made up ridiculous fake names for each other and we were always making silly faces that no one else understood except for us. It has been twelve years since I have seen Mandy, and even longer than that since the four of us were together, until last night. Amy, Mandy, Sarah and I got together again for dinner and to catch up and reminisce. It was so great to see all of us together again. A better reunion I couldn't have asked for.

House Guests

My friend Kristen and her sweet baby girl, Zoya, have been visiting from Vail (her husband, Dimitri, was here for a few days too.) They are going home this week and I'm gonna be sad. We have had a great time. I have felt like I have been on vacation. I'll miss you, Kristen, when you leave!

Sveta is gone :(

Well, the visit with Sveta was great. We got to see her almost everyday that she was here. She is a wonderful friend that I will have forever, even if she is on the other side of the world.

Flugtag

I was there along with 80,000 other people, which was a record number of people to attend the flugtag in North America. Go Nashville! It was unbearably hot, the kids complained a bunch, the lemonades were $5 a piece, but I had a blast! We were lucky enough to meet up with a friend of ours who owns a building on First Ave., so after two hours of standing outside and walking the bridge, we were able to watch the rest of the crazies crash their "planes" into the Cumberland from a cozy, air-conditioned office. When we finally walked back to the LP Field and piled the kids into the car like limp sacks of potatoes, I was completely exhausted but ultimately glad I went.

These are pictures of family and friends we saw there. We saw many other friends there too and I didn't snap their photo, but I'm glad they were there! (You know who you are!)
