Walden This Weekend

The monthly (or mostly monthly) Artisan market is happening again in East Nashville this weekend. I have heard through the vine that this one will house the most vendors yet, so it's sure to full and happening! Make plans to come out and shop the wares, get a cup of joe and a panini at Ugly Mugs next door or a smoothie at Fresh Blends or hold out until the Taco truck arrives and load up on Mas Tacos! My favorite!

The Market is open this Saturday from 9am until 5pm and this Sunday from 11am until 4pm. Be there or be missing out!

Mark Your Calendars

The Walden Market is happening again this weekend over here in East Nashville. 9am to 4 pm this Saturday and 10am-3pm on Sunday. I'll have a booth along with other awesome handmade and vintage vendors, so come on down! It's a good time to be shopping for Mother's and Father's and Easter gifts!

Cheekwood

Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Art Museum was free this past weekend, so we took the kids. It's one of my favorite places - even if we have to pay. The mansion had free entrance also, so we got to see the visiting Fabrege collection (for a jewelry artist - this was awesome!) and art from William Christenberry. (And of course, we saw the other art that always finds it's home at Cheekwood, among which is one of my favorites, William Edmonson, who, incidentally, is related to the Edmonsons who sold us our house.)

Walden Once Again

The Walden Artisan Market is happening again this weekend. I thank everyone who made it down to shop all the awesome handmade goods last month. If you didn't make it, now's your chance. Some of the same vendors will be there and some new ones have been added! And - it's in a bigger space! Hooray! Still in the same building, you will see it right when you pull in the lot. It will be in the front section, which will offer everyone more room.

Heal for the Honey

My sister and I went to Brooke Waggoner's CD release concert last night. I only found out about the day before, or I would have told you...It was fabulous. I'm really a huge fan. I need more music in my life that doesn't sound like anyone else... Listen to songs from her new CD, Heal for the Honey, here.

Henna Me

I had a tattoo artist who also owns a henna business, henna my foot so I could have some cool body art for the remainder of the summer. It was a really fun experience to get it done, and it looks great with my flip flops. Tons of people have commented on it already. It's a fun thing, and I don't have to keep it forever! Which means I'll have to get it done again...

Nashville Fireworks

We headed downtown an hour ahead of time last night to make sure that we got our $10 parking spot and a good clear place to lay our extra huge tarp, staking our place for the much awaited Nashville Fourth of July fireworks. And I have to say, despite the waiting (practically in the middle of the night for the boys,) and the masses of people and the awful, horrible, no good traffic afterwards, those 25 minutes of fireworks are something I wouldn't want to give up. As soon as it starts the children get really still and quiet. They sit mesmerized just like Seth and me, who can finally take our eyes off them and immerse ourselves in a shower of lights, because we know they're not going anywhere. I love the feeling of the boom of sound right at the base of my throat and the warm bodies of my kids leaning against me. It's truly magical.
Just to brag on my hometown, Nashville really does have a spectacular show. Anybody know how many millions they spend on it? I don't, but it's got to be up there.
I posted some pictures, and I realize that I've been less than judicial about the number of them. I'm honestly just too tired to choose...

Cheekwood

A friend and I took our kids to Cheekwood Yesterday. We enjoyed a pleasant picnic at the ponds and then we walked the gardens. I've found that I like photographing flowers almost more than I like taking pictures of the kids. Flowers are always still...
Anyway, here are some of my pictures from the day:

The OFF 12TH Event

I'm sorry I've been kind of lazy on posts lately. And I'm afraid this week won't be much better. I'm gearing up for a show this weekend. If you live in the Nashville area, you should think about coming to this event. There will be lots of great music and some vendors (including me.) Check out the OFF 12TH Myspace page to see a schedule of musicians and the vendors who will be there (i.e. top friends.)

Express Bijougirl Designs

The show went great this weekend. I sold tons and every one of my business cards were taken! Yay!
I still feel like I need to recuperate and catch up here at the house though. It's amazing how gross things can get on the home front when I neglect it for a couple of days! So...back to work!

The Art Festival

I'll have a booth set up (at 1210 Franklin Road • Brentwood, TN 37027) Friday night for the dance performances, Saturday and all day Sunday. Seth will be painting live (16 x 8' paintings) during each of the four church services on Saturday and Sunday and he will be doing a live demonstration at 2:30. There will be various music and dance performances, a lot of artists, kids crafts and food (Off the Grill) all day Sunday. Come down for this event. It will be so much fun. A date, hallelujah.

We sent the kids away to grandparents' house for the night and finally got ourselves out for a date. We did a bit of shopping, went to dinner, saw a movie and this morning we walked to get coffee. It had been so long since we went out together, I was wondering if we would still get along when we were all by ourselves. Good news, we do. We still like each other a lot.

Saturday... in the Park

Today is cold. Really cold comparatively. And Kaleb is sick. But before all that, early yesterday, we were blessed to get out of the house for a minute of fresh air. We scouted some garage sales (I got a wrought iron glass top table and four chairs for $25! Yay!) and went to the lake at the park. Several types of geese and ducks had already made the lake their visiting place, and there were a couple birds guarding their eggs. We also saw a turtle. I almost stepped on him, but I was glad to see him and show the boys!

I hope you're not totally bored at some more flower pictures. I know...everybody takes flower pictures, but things are movin' and shakin' in the yard and I just feel like I have to document! Perhaps these photos will be useful when winter rolls 'round again.

Spring again...

I took these juxtaposing pictures today. Neighbor Julia's (top) and neighbor Chris's (bottom) snowmen, and in our yard: spring irises and lilac buds.

For those of you who live in Nashville: Can you believe the amount of snow we got last night? What did I tell you? It's snow then spring then snow then spring then snow again! It looks like Styrofoam!

Seth and I enjoyed the evening by inviting some friends for appetizers and wine. After they left, we stood by the windows, mesmerized...
