A week in the life of our homeschool journey:

Recently I decided to add an Election Unit to our studies (this is the best year for it!) We also started Community Bible Study, so the kids all have Bible lessons geared toward their age, and a two hour class to go to (taught by someone other than me! Hooray!) If you have never heard of Community Bible Study, it is a non-denominational Bible study, whose purpose is "To make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ in our communities through caring, in-depth Bible study, available to all.."
There are classes available all over the United States and also classes all over the world. You can learn more about them here.

With all the new things I've added, I'm finding it harder to manage our time and get everything in. My lovely and helpful planner has pretty much gone out the window for the time being. Maybe until our election unit is completed. Anyway, forward march.

Last week we learned about cartilaginous fish. The kids sculpted them.

They also spent probably 10 - 12 hours (ALL of their free time and then some) making oragami for various family member's birthdays..

We also took some time out for Elijah to review multiplication facts. This is one of the things I absolutly love about homeschooling. If you see your child struggling in some area, you can feel free to go back and relearn or reinforce before moving on and losing them completely. I think if Elijah were in school right now, he would be left behind, with all of us wondering why he was all of a sudden making poor grades in a subject that he loved and was good at.
We did several multiplication games and Elijah painted this multiplication table to hang on his bedroom wall (It's not quite finished, yet.) I got the idea for the painting, here on Pinterest.
Speaking of Pinterest, I get a lot of my homeschooling ideas from there. You can follow my homeschool board here, and if you have one, I'd love to follow yours!

The hardest thing about homeschooling tends to still be keeping Estelle occupied. But I think she is beginning to get in the rhythm! This is her this morning, following the boys lead by getting out a sheet of paper and starting her "work."
What precious memories.
