I've been watching Work of Art: The Next Great Artist on Bravo. Several jewelers on the Etsy Metal Team have been watching too and every week we adapt the artist's challenge into a jeweler's challenge. This past week the artists were asked to make a piece of art using children's arts and crafts and to be inspired from their own childhood.

The first thing I remember making as a child was a doll made out of scraps from my mom's sewing kit. She was stuffed, with a sewn on face and lace for hair. I was maybe 4 or 5 years old. So, with that memory in mind, I made a little brass doll. Her head and pigtails move, and so do her arms and legs which have been sewn on. She was fun to make and I think I'll save her for the next girl in the family (if anyone on my family ever HAS a girl!)
