Beautiful, Easy Ornaments

The kids and I have been doing some decorating around the house for Christmas. We love to decorate the tree and get out all the ornaments that we have collected over the years. My favorite ornaments are super easy to make. They look beautiful amongst the sparkly tree lights and they are great to give as gifts. I've done several parties where we all sat around and made these ornaments. So fun! Here's how:

Start with a cork for the base. You can find packages of corks at any craft store, or you might have a few around from your favorite bottle of wine. I've collected tons of beads over the years, but I like to just use the cheap plastic ones from a craft store because you need a lot to make several ornaments.

Use straight pins to thread beads in any pattern and then insert the pins into the cork. Keep doing it until you can't fit any more pins in.

Use heavy duty wire cutters to cut the head off of one pin, then use pliers to bend the pin wire into a loop so that you'll have something to thread your hanging string through. Insert the eye pin into your ornament and finish with some fishing string or ribbon. Beautiful!

You should make a lot of those now because cork is becoming extinct.
