The servant's heart

A very close friend of my grandparents commissioned me to make a necklace for her inspired by them. They have both lived lives that have affected so many people in a positive way - by being the hands and feet of Jesus to all of their family and countless friends. Not only is their love and generosity inspiring to others, but it's truly a testimony to the power of God's work in their own lives.

Their friend and I, together, came up with this heart pendant design depicting open hands holding fruit. The fruit of the spirit has been so evident in my grandparents lives, so I thought it was a perfect picture. The symbol of the open hands is also beautiful - because I have never known them to hold anything - time, money, possessions - back from anyone in need. In Grandma's own words "We just love to give!"
The back of the pendant says "A servant's heart." I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, when they meet Jesus face to face, he will greet them both with "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

What a blessing to hear the stories of friends and family being moved by my grandparents and to get to make a piece of jewelry about the heart the God has planted in them. I am one very lucky granddaughter.
