My husband found two old, broken rattan chairs on the street and brought them home. I was mad (because we don't need any more junk!) until I realized that the frames were in fabulous condition. So, I stripped off the rattan and wove new seats and backs out of jute upholstery webbing. Voila! New chairs!
Seth gave me a painting for a headboard. We've needed a headboard for forever, but I can never find anything I like that is low enough for the sloped walls of the room. But I LOVE this. It fits us perfectly.
It was a very long day (got there at 10am - left after 10pm) but it was a good show. Tons of people, great vendors and cool artwork in all the surrounding galleries. I'm gonna take a couple days to rest, and then gear up for another Handmade in the Arcade the first week in December!
Every once in a while, members of the Etsy Metal team all do a blog post on their own blogs all on the same question. This weeks question is: "What is the most unusual request for a custom made piece that you actually did?"
I don't know how unusual this is, but it's definitely not something I normally do. I made a skull with a beard necklace. It was fabulously thick and I did a full skull (both back and front) and soldered on the beard. It was a really fun project.
