It's time for Mulberry Pie!

The kids have been begging for it ever since the fruit were barely buds on the tree. They finally got ripe and I made them do the picking. I made them a pie last night. There's nothing like fresh berry pie!

My Room

I got some cool organic pottery at the festival this weekend. I'm using them to hold jewelry and random change.

My booth at Coleman Park

I had two different people say that it was cool that I made jewelry and dresses. Whaaaa? Does it look like I make dresses? Meet Lola. She's a man mannequin. He/She's wearing a dress (and a bra) because without it, the jewelry just looks plain weird. If it looks like I sell dresses, then I might have to make Lola retire...

There was a drum circle class right behind my booth. Watching those kids was probably my favorite part of the whole day (besides the sushi that Seth and I got afterwards!)

I need a matchmaker!

No, really.
I haven't been getting very much sleep lately.
A mocking bird built his nest right outside my bedroom window. I don't know how much you know about mockingbirds, but they can do over 200 different bird calls plus some other sounds. Ours does at least 200 different bird calls and he occasionally throws in some police siren, frog croaks, crickets, locust and dog bark. I have heard that mockingbirds can also mimic humans, so now I'm wondering if a part of all the "mom!" "mommy!" "mo----om!" throughout our house could actually be the bird. Just what I need. One more talker!
From the time I go to bed until the break of early dawn, it sounds as if there is a menagerie of animals taking turns talking out on the lawn. In reality, it's one lonely male trying to come up with the perfect one-liner to attract his mate.
Somebody please help find this boy a girl! My well-being depends on it!

The Outdoor Life

We hung some old windows on our backyard privacy fence. I can see them from the kitchen window. They make me feel like going outside...like outside is just another room in the house. And goodness knows I need another room in the house - especially since today is the last day of school!

Oh, and our lilies began to bloom this morning! Hooray!

I really should be working, but...

The weather has been beckoning me outdoors. I set up a tent in the courtyard today so we could eat outside in the shade. I really don't feel bad about lounging out here slacking off. The big boys get out of school tomorrow, and I'm enjoying the air with my littlest- work or no work. So there.

Kids and Castles.

We painted cardboard castles today at Garage Mahal, part of Art and Invention. Painting sessions are open on Saturdays and Sundays, and there are a variety of castles to choose from. The boys channeled all of their energy for the two hours we were there and we ended up with a super cool imaginative plaything. Check out the Nashville City Paper's article about it here. Happy Mother's Day!

Surprise!!

Our new kitty, Wilma, kept getting fatter and fatter after we got her. At first we thought, "whoa, she must've been starving before!" But then we began to feel her belly undulate and move - and believe me, I know that feeling! It was not just massive amounts of food digesting, it was babies. And so, she had her kittens silently last Friday under Kaleb's bed. We knew we couldn't touch them or we would run the risk of getting them sick and then Wilma would not want to nurse them anymore, but Seth and I couldn't help but peek. Wilma saw us and carried them one by one to another hiding place - in the very back of our upstairs closet. We've been careful to pretend that we don't know they're there. But a minute ago, I made sure Wilma was doing something else and I sneaked up there with my camera and got a picture! Oh, my goodness, I'm dying to cuddle these precious babes!

What's up...?

Ok...sorry, sorry, sorry! I've been trying to rest a little this week after three weeks of 0 days off. So, sorry that I've MIA lately. Here a couple pictures of our flowers this year after moving all of them this past fall.

And as you can see, the shutters are still not up, because we are trying to finish up the new outside paint (all the rain has made it difficult to get it done...) and we still have to re-mulch. Oh well, I'm sure we'll eventually get everything done. Maybe by next Spring...

This is what I'm doing...

I will have a booth at the Lockeland Story Telling Festival tomorrow between 3and 7pm.
It's in East Nashville on 17th ave. at the end of Woodland Street. This festival is geared toward kids - so it's a great place to bring your family.
Just so you know. =)
***Update: This show will go on rain or shine. If the rain is awful (which, it looks like it will be) the festival will move inside the school.)
