My Newest:

As soon as this long run of shows every weekend is over, I'm going to be re-organizing my studio. I've been collecting things that I want to use to organize and I've also have things that I want to live in there for my creative well-being - such as my jewelry and metal-smithing book collection. I plan to have a floating shelf with all of my jewelry books lined up on it. I just bought this one: The Complete Book of Jewelry Making by Carles Codina and I love it because of all the big full color pictures.

Re-cap

The Market was fantastic this weekend. The next one will be sometime in June. I'll keep you posted.
See those bud vases down there? I traded for them. Aren't they adorable? They're going to line up on my dining table.
Oh, and the cute girl smiling for the camera? She's Alison, who runs the whole thing. Thanks Alison, for your superb job!

Jump Up Johnny

We have new landscaping and new yard lighting, but I've been too busy (and when I'm not busy, I've been too lazy) to get pictures of it. We still need new mulch and Seth is halfway through re-painting the house. One day I'll show you. I promise.
But for now, here is a picture of our Johnny Jump-ups in the window box. They make me think of the talking flowers in Alice in Wonderland. They make me smile.

P.S. Don't forget about the Walden Market tomorrow!

Walden This Weekend

The monthly (or mostly monthly) Artisan market is happening again in East Nashville this weekend. I have heard through the vine that this one will house the most vendors yet, so it's sure to full and happening! Make plans to come out and shop the wares, get a cup of joe and a panini at Ugly Mugs next door or a smoothie at Fresh Blends or hold out until the Taco truck arrives and load up on Mas Tacos! My favorite!

The Market is open this Saturday from 9am until 5pm and this Sunday from 11am until 4pm. Be there or be missing out!

Hope

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading... 1 Peter 1:3-4

Happy 35th Birthday, My Sweetie!

I still love you a lot. Even after all this time. Actually, I'm pretty sure I love you more now.

This photo was taken by Shannon. When my hair was still long.

The Refiner

The smith also sitteth by the anvil,
And fighteth with the heat of the furnace,
And the noise of the hammer and the anvil is ever in his ears,
And his eyes look still upon the pattern of the thing that he maketh.
He setteth his mind to finish his work,
And waiteth to polish it perfectly.

-Ecclesiasticus
via The Complete Metalsmith

"He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the Lord." Malachi 3:3

"And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." Philippians 1:6

Above is a woodblock print by Laura Wilder. Check out her other Nouveau-esque prints and paintings here.

Moon

I've been crazy busy lately, but one of the highlights of my downtime has been looking through Elijah's new telescope. We got the crescent moon in focus the other night and it was incredible how clear it was. We could see each crater perfectly. What a cool experience for all of us! Can't wait to do it again (preferably when it's a bit warmer out. ;)

P.S. I found this photo at the Lunar and Planetary Institute.
