New Old Chairs
My husband found two old, broken rattan chairs on the street and brought them home. I was mad (because we don't need any more junk!) until I realized that the frames were in fabulous condition. So, I stripped off the rattan and wove new seats and backs out of jute upholstery webbing. Voila! New chairs!

DeleteI hand sewed each strip on with heavy duty thread. The seats lasted for a few years, but just recently a few of the pieces of webbing are starting to break free, so I think I will have to do it again. This time I might try leather. I will hand sew that too after I punch holes in it with an awl or something.
Hi Amanda, Thank you for getting back to me. That is good to know. My chair is a bit bigger so I don't know if I want to hand sew it all. I was thinking metal snaps or trying my hand at macrame. I really love the look of jute webbing.
