Monkeys for the Monkeys

I love the sale aisle at Michael's for stocking up on inexpensive crafts to whip out in those moments when the kids are about to drive me up the wall needing something to do. This week we painted little plaster monkeys...and somebody got confused and painted one of my live monkeys...

The Art Festival

I'll have a booth set up (at 1210 Franklin Road • Brentwood, TN 37027) Friday night for the dance performances, Saturday and all day Sunday. Seth will be painting live (16 x 8' paintings) during each of the four church services on Saturday and Sunday and he will be doing a live demonstration at 2:30. There will be various music and dance performances, a lot of artists, kids crafts and food (Off the Grill) all day Sunday. Come down for this event. It will be so much fun. For more information on the schedule of the day see here.

A date, hallelujah.

We sent the kids away to grandparents' house for the night and finally got ourselves out for a date. We did a bit of shopping, went to dinner, saw a movie and this morning we walked to get coffee. It had been so long since we went out together, I was wondering if we would still get along when we were all by ourselves. Good news, we do. We still like each other a lot.

Head, Elmo, Knees and Toes, Knees and Toes

I asked Emet to show me where his eyes were, he knew and pointed to them, touching his squinty eyelids. Then I asked him to show me his mouth and ears, chin and cheeks, fingers and toes, and he knew where all of them were and was so proud of himself whenever I exclaimed "Yay! That is your _! Good job!"
Then I asked him where his elbow was and he turned tail and ran out of the room. I thought "O.k. he must be tired of this game." Only to have him return a few seconds later carrying his Elmo. All I could do was laugh and say "Yay! That is your Elmo! Good job!"

Working hard...

Poor thing...this is what my husband looked like a couple days ago when he came home from working. It's paint...but it reminds me of being tarred and feathered.

Typing oncce again...

We got a keyboard! Thanks to our generous neighbor! It'll take me a while to respond to all my emails and stuff...but I'm excited that I don't have to copy and paste individual letters in order to sign in to read my mail!

Bok bok bok bok....

My neighbor got some chickens to keep in his backyard. I picked some up at the store for dinner.

I worked on this commission yesterday. Getting it into the mail today.

Jellies

In first grade I had a light pink sparkly pair. I wonder if I could pull them off now? From Urban Outfitters.

Saturday... in the Park

Today is cold. Really cold comparatively. And Kaleb is sick. But before all that, early yesterday, we were blessed to get out of the house for a minute of fresh air. We scouted some garage sales (I got a wrought iron glass top table and four chairs for $25! Yay!) and went to the lake at the park. Several types of geese and ducks had already made the lake their visiting place, and there were a couple birds guarding their eggs. We also saw a turtle. I almost stepped on him, but I was glad to see him and show the boys!

A Little Sun Before The Storm

I liked this photo of my sun break on the front porch yesterday afternoon. Good timing too, considering the mongo storm that rolled in last night!

Idol Gives Credit

I can't believe they sang this song! Very cool.

My McGyver Tool

My sister and I watched McGyver religiously when we were kids. I think my favorite thing about him is probably every body's favorite thing - he was able to take whatever and turn it in to...whatever else. Even today, I'm always so pleased when I find a tool that was meant for something else, but it works perfectly for the purpose that I have given it!
Yesterday I was looking everywhere for a particular file. I have a whole bunch of files, and I use them all, but nothing would do but the one I wanted. It's not even a file for metal, but it's my favorite tool for filing smooth rounded ear wires and posts. If you've ever worn a pair of my earrings, then you have benefited from this file's handiwork. Guess what it's true purpose is? It's a fingernail file!

What are your favorite tools, and do you have any that were meant for something, but you use it for something else?

The wildflowers are at it...

I hope you're not totally bored at some more flower pictures. I know...everybody takes flower pictures, but things are movin' and shakin' in the yard and I just feel like I have to document! Perhaps these photos will be useful when winter rolls 'round again.

I Feel Like a Number

I spent all morning in the Department of Human Services. Not my idea of a great morning. I can completely identify with Melanie Favreau who makes these "I feel like a number" necklaces, which I ran across on Design Crush a couple days ago. My sentiments exactly.

Got a lot done

I had a very productive day on the jewelry front. So sad none of this will go into the shop until the second week of May. I'm preparing for a spring show. More on that later...

What are you growing?

Seth bought a million seeds this spring and had the kids help plant the first of them throughout the yard and in planters in the courtyard. Signs of Spring are showing up everywhere and it's so exciting! If you haven't noticed already, I've added a poll to the upper right side of this blog. What I want to know is: are you planting things this season? and if so, what?

32. He lets me be me.
33. He is handsome.
34. He wants to grow old with me!
I love you Seth!

The Swatch

I have held on to this piece of fabric forever, intending to eventually buy enough to make curtains for my bedroom. Does anyone know where I can find this online?

New Earrings

I put another new pair in the shop. I got a few opinions about the background color, but I'm still not sure, because with warmer metals the light background seems to work best and with cooler metals the darker background... I want my pictures to be somewhat consistent, but at the moment I'm feeling overwhelmed. For this one, I just did both. What do you think?

Let's Make Paper Airplanes

There are not many sweeter things than a father teaching his sons correct paper airplane folding techniques.

It makes me want to buy them this book or any of these.

A Huge Announcement

We are pregnant! With twins! Can you believe it? Click on the comments to see what we are thinking of naming them.

Bijougirl Designs

My dear, dear friend Kristen sent me (all the way from Vail) a Nikon Coolpix camera that I can use. Hooray! So, here are some new earrings. But before I post them in my shop, I need to know, do you like the white background? or do you prefer the dark one that I have previously used?
